About two weeks later my Asus tablet got a hug crack in the screen.

And now, I  have a new problem.

At the moment I’m working a lot with my markers, they’re Letraset promarkers and Tria markers. I started off with Promarkers but I’m now slowely switching to Tria markers, since they come in 300 colours ( promarkers only have 148 colours ) AND Tria markers can be refilled, so while I pay about €5,50 ($7,36) for a triamarkers, after that I would only have to pay about €1,80 ($ 2,41) for a refill cartridge.
But now they discontinued the cartridges!!
If I run out a colour that comes only in Tria markers, like for example my beautiful set of blue-greys, I would have to buy a new marker for 5,50 euro. ($7,36)

I’m not that rich!

I’m just so upset!

I was planning to do my whole comic for in markers but if Letraset starts screwing up I might get in trouble sooner or later!


I’m also so sad… I was so proud of my markers, I was showing them off at work, but while I might be able to keep up working with promarkers, triamarkers are gonna be a problem this way, and there is no point in trying to collect the full set if maintaining my collection is gonna be this expensive.

PS: Then I thought, well let’s see if I should start investing in copics… guess what, if you want to buy them here, they’re still just as or even more expensive mostly then Triamarkers.

I’m feeling a little discouraged about Tournament Cosmos right now.

Someone else just posted a reference sheet for an ice-based magical girl too. I know another person is working on an ice-based character for Tournament Cosmos also…

 

I’m just so afraid I’m gonna look like a copycat and even if I don’t look like a copycat than it might just still be partly cliché anyway.

 

And it won’t matter whether I’ll go with Nina/Zima or Victoria/SilverSnow they’re both ice based. :(

I can’t speak for the judges, but… Are you happy with the character? Something I’ve had to come to terms with myself is that as long as you’re happy, then it’s okay if a character is cliche.  I’ve always actually LIKED things like the female waif healer, stars, and mythology - all fairly overused concepts!  Just do your absolute best, make the best character you can, and you won’t need to have any regrets at the end!

For example, Crossed Rose, the magical girl I’m entering? Her powers are based around roses and the four elements classic western elements. If the classic western elements aren’t cliche and done to death, I don’t think anything is. 

If you want my opinion, I think you should go with Silver Snow, though. I think a lot can be done with her ice skating/roller derby interests! Those would be absolutely awesome to work with in battle and action segments!  I think Victoria is unique as a CHARACTER (she’s a decently developed b*tch character? And you’re working on dropping the ‘everyone should feel sorry for her’ and actually trying to paint her as a jerk?  That’s actually really good - you don’t see many honest jerk OCs!), even if the gimmick isn’t necessarily. Remember, the character is more important than the bells and whistles!

I do still like SilverSnow indeed.  

I think my slight might have come from my reading a lot of tutorials and stuff on how to be success full in OCTs, the main advice is always to be original.

I guess I’ll still go with Victoria/SilverSnow indeed.

( She is getting a bit of a make-over though )

BTW I’ll look forward to see Crossed Rose in Tournament Cosmos, she sounds interesting :)

When I was watching RuPauls Drag Race…  and thinking about the story of Tournament Cosmos, that the story of tournament cosmos is pretty much “It’s a reality show, the winner becomes a Magical Super Star with fame and cash” it occurred to me that Victoria/SilverSnow would be perfect for such a story, the twofaced dramaqueen, a sweetheart around important people and media, a b*tch in daily life, who main goal it is to be the famous. She wouldn’t be the exact same character that also has been in SMOCT though… I’ll start over with her like SMOCT and all that never happened.

I mean if there’s one thing I learned from SMOCT, it’s that it is for a character to have a drive to win…

Victoria wasn’t willing to sacrifice much to get the prize in SMOCT and a character who isn’t willing to sacrifice things to get to the main goal will get stuck when things get hard.

And with Nina / Zima so far she’s entering, because she promised her grandma to win and because it sounds fun, those reasons might get her half way, but if she would run into someone in the competition who has far more important reasons to win the might turn out to be too nice and not driven enough… I mean Nina doesn’t care for fame and money.

Victoria on the other would be dedicated to win, very dedicated. However Victoria would need quite a revamp, both visual ( she need to lose the sailor uniform off course ) but also personality wise, while I’m fine with her being a snobby, selfish b*tch, I made the mistake of trying to make people feel sorry for her to much. When you have a mean character with a sad back story it can go two ways, the audience can start feeling some sympathy and the audience can start hating the character because there not only mean but also whiny .  I now realise that Victoria was stuck to much and two long in “oh poor me” moments.

So now I’m a little stuck, I’m not sure whether I should go with:

The fun loving, easy going, friendly, lazy, carefree Nina/Zima. Who will give me the opportunity for instory friend making, being silly and having fun. But who might also be too nice and easy going to let the story progress.

Or

The snobby, b*tchy, selfish, determined, hard-working, extravagant Victoria/SilverSnow. Who will give the opportunity to get conflicts with almost everything and everyone if I want to which can be more interesting story-wise. But who might also to serious and not fun enough for the contest.

Sigh why do new idea’s always have to struck when I’m already busy with an idea.

Anyway, I really hope you can give advice.

Hi Everyone,

I’m considering to unfollow a whole bunch of people. 

Which is absolutely nothing personal, to use this cliche: It’s me, not you.

The thing is, I’m sensitive, extremely sensitive. This means that stuff most people would find just wrong or creepy, is gonna make me nauseous, possibly give me  panic-attacks and possibly make me afraid to go to sleep at night. 

I have downloaded and installed google chrome and with that Tumblr Hate, but that wont help all that much either, because I’ll look at/read things first before I decide whether or not I block it, and by the I’ve read/saw it the damage has already been done. 

I seriously wish I wasn’t so sensitive  but I am, honestly I don’t even watch the news because I know it will make me unhappy. 

So I guess I’ll probably start following only “un-personal” tumblrs, like fashion-tumblrs, make-up tumblrs, art-tumblrs, etc. 

Or maybe I’ll calm down and not follow trough… I’m not sure yet. 

It’s a shame because I really like to see people’s art… luckily most people are also on deviantart I guess.
